Comments: Once a ski slope with a tow rope, it now requires personal exertion to get to the top. A smaller hill is available for the less daring or physically challenged. Generations of kids, young or young at heart, have come to this hill for the thrill and speed.

Slope: ~50 degrees Length: ~700-800 ft. Easily Accessible: Yes Nearby Parking: Yes
Hazards/Obstructions: Yes (see comments) Video: None Photo: None Submitted By: Clinten Waddell, 1-17-2010
Directions: Sledding hill at Burlington Golf Course. Off hwy 61 go east on Sunnyside, turn north on Cliff Rd, turn east again on Florence Ave. Park at the end of Florence. Walk east 100 ft. and go north 500 ft.

Comments: You will definately love this place. Not for the beginner, but it is safe. Very fast, long hill. If you like, there is a sand bunker on the bottom left to ramp. To the far right is a pond, the only hazard! As long as you don't aim for the pond you won't land nowhere near it! Very fun with bunny hills for kids if needed! Occasionally they use an electric lift to bring you back up! Almost like sledding in the Rockies!

Comments: The earthen dam side that faces north has a broad terrace in the middle thats a perfect place for a jump. The creek and manhole on either side at the bottom are far enough away, but one should be mindful of them.

County: Johnson City: Tiffin Property: Public Park Permission: Yes
Designated Sledding Area: Yes Turf: Grass Texture: Smooth & Bumpy Crowds: None-Some
Slope: 30-35 degrees Length: 500-600 ft. Easily Accessible: Yes Nearby Parking: Yes
Hazards/Obstructions: Yes (see comments) Video: click video camera for video of sledder on hill (Via YouTube) click video camera for video of sledder on hill (Via YouTube) Photo: click camera for photo of hill Submitted By: Jim, 3-5-2007
Updated by: Mike Bose, 1-22-2012
Directions: Sledding hill at Kent Park near the Bob White shelter. Kent Park is 3.5 miles west of Tiffin on Highway Six.

Comments: Parking is at Bob White Pavilion Shelter. The pavillion at the top of the hill has a place for a fire. The hill faces West and has a small lake at the bottom. Sledders that make it over a maintenance trail about 575 feet down the hill can go over a drop-off and slide across the lake when the ice is frozen. Stopping at the terrace (maintenance trail) isn't difficult, as alot of sledders stop here naturally anyway.

2012 Update: The park was easy to find, but the location of the sledding hill was not. The coordinates of the Bob White shelter are N41.728646 W91.728663 and the park map is (located here). For the most part, the only hazards are easily avoidable but those with young sledders need to be aware of them. The center of the hill is obstruction free, but there are small trees towards the bottom on either side. The tendency of the hill is to draw the sled to the left and right towards several trees at the bottom. There are two areas to start, either right in front of the shelter or at a small plateau area with benches. We found the plateau area to be safer, starting at the shelter gives the rider enough velocity to whiz past the trees, over the maintenance trail and out onto the lake - my daughter's first ride scared me (and her) to death! Starting at the plateau gave us a safe landing right at the maintenance trail. I've lived in the area for 6 years and was not aware of this location. Thanks to this site for posting it, we had a great time and will return here regularly!

Directions: Sledding hill at Squaw Creek Park. Squaw Creek Park is at the intersection of Hiway 13 and The Highway 100 Marion Bypass.

Comments: Parking is at Red Cedar Lodge. The county maintained a rope tow and the lodge was open for a couple seasons more than 30 years ago, but not any longer. Currently, theres a pretty nice warming shed with a place for a fire at the bottom of the hill. A grove of Pine provides a widbreak and a two sided hill. The hill faces NNE, has posted rules that disallows jumps, has no obstructions and is pretty long, wide and fast.
